As a Carpenter, Cabinet-maker, and Mold-maker, I have had to adapt and learn new techniques, machinery and software in order to compete  in the computer age.  The technologies available have helped me build fantastic projects, using design software and robotic machines.

 

While learning new ways to do things in my shop, it became nessesary to start using CAD programs (AutoCad and DesignCad) for designing projects for my clients. I was able to import architectural plans if needed and generate shop drawings.  Most of the time  I created my own drawings to scale based on the the room shape or the client input, in either case, accuracy of the measurements needed was criticle in the design process and ultimately for the building process of the final product.

 

  Especially challenging, were rooms or projects that were curved, or had strange angles. The old way of dealing with these situations was to template the area and build your project to the template. But in the computer age of CNC machinery and CAD (computer aided design) software, it is nessesary to have real numbers for input into the machines and the software for design purposes.  I have a tab called Drafting Ideas with a link to a page where I explain in detail the procedures I developed on how to get the correct measurements needed. I am explaining all this to introduce you to the reason I developed my own software for the iPhone, iPad, and Andoid devices. The older I get, the more important it is for me to share this information, and, if possible provide a new income stream. My body is wearing out, and  my shop has temporarily closed due to the horrible economy.  The reality of  generating an income is is still very real. But beyond my financial needs, the fact remains that anyone designing and building custom projects out of wood or anything else, for example Cast Stone, needs to have real numbers to work with. My software will make your life easier, and You can be confident that the calculations have been used by a master, with accuracy and dependability.
